I'm going to just start this off. I know we're going to talk about pavis, which is the topic of what we're going to be discussing today, but I want to just put a little bug in someone's ears. Yeah. So, okay. I'm going to switch gears back to this, but just, just check that out. Well, today, Cain, we're going to talk about PAVIS, which is, it's the, it's the dynamic age defense system that we're going to talk about. And, and I know you know a little bit about it. We brought it onto the practice about a week ago and we sold out the first shipment and we got another shipment.

No, it's Pavise, Pavise, but before we go into this, I am going to, I want to talk a little bit about the inventor because I think her background is really interesting. Do you know much about her, Cain?

A little bit, but I, I think first, like, just generally, what is pavisse? Just so, as people tune in, like, what, what is it? Just generally.

So Pavise, the entire dynamic age defense is a, multiple things in one. Yes, it's a new UV filter. So it's a sunscreen, but it's not just that it is a photo aging cocktail that really helps with the issues and causes of aging to our skin.

and it's a topical. You apply it. Okay, so that's generally what it is. Now let's talk a little bit about the inventor and the data.

Okay. So Sophie Bai, she's really interesting. She actually created this compound when she was 16 years old. She, she created this new molecule, which will, which is basically a a small nanoparticle diamond. That's the nidus of this, of this new zinc molecule. And then she recreated zinc around this in a manner where the crystals of the zinc. are very uniform so that it has better spreadability to the skin. And again, I'm talking about the product, not about her. I'll, I'll go back to this product, but, but she created this molecule at the age of 16,

she is a prodigy, and then she went to MIT and she studied chemical engineering, and then she went to Harvard for her MBA. And when she was at, she came back to MIT, she joined the Langer lab, Robert Langer's a big name in the biotech world. And that's where she continued to create her product, which is now Pavisse, the Pavisse line. And so the one in particular we're going to talk about again is the dynamic age defense. There's some other products in her line that I do like, but we're only caring for the time being the dynamic

She's kind of like a Dooky Hauser. Yeah, she, Brilliant. Brilliant. And the fact that this molecule, so can, if we think about like the different UV filters, there really hasn't been anything in line of innovation of a new UV filter. There's, there's zinc, there's titanium dioxide, there's all the different chemical components for sunscreens, but there hasn't been a new molecule. That's been created for the past 20 years. So this is innovative in and of itself. But you know, when we talk about the two, let's just talk about the sunscreen perspective of it. So we talk about chemical sunscreens and physical blocks, right? And I'm going to make it very simplistic and generalized here, but, but part of the reason we get more concerned with chemical sunscreens, is because it can be sensitizing to patients and it can actually make them feel penetrate into the, into the dermis. It can actually get into the bloodstream. It's been noted. And so it's not really recommended for pregnant females. You want to try to stick to a physical block in that case. And the problem with physical blocks, you know, I've given you physical blocks and you say many, or when I put them on, what do you always say? When I put my, my sunscreen

Rub it in. You're always telling me that. But so what happens is, and it's really interesting is that

A lot of times these sunscreens that we think are physical sunscreens have some inactive chemical components in it, which is called doping, the sunscreen, to make it more spreadable, to make it more transparent so you're not quite getting a 100% physical block. Well, with this molecule that she's developed which is more, again, that uniform crystal, it allows for that wonderful spread ability. And transparency, which was kind of a byproduct for her. She didn't, she didn't go on to develop a transparent product. She wanted to have something that was a resilient product, but Oh, by the way, it's also transparent, which makes, which increases the cosmetic elegance of it, but it's transparent. So it doesn't leave that cast. Now we'll say. If there was one negative is that it's a little tacky when you put it on, it's a little bit, you can feel a little stickiness to it for about 10 minutes. And that's okay. I don't mind the stickiness for all the other components that it has to it. I just wait to put my makeup on about 10 minutes

Yeah, and when I put it on, I honestly, I don't even really notice that.

Some patients have noted that I can note it a little bit as well, but, but again, I don't, I don't mind that. But the part of it, Cain, and you know, How many different reps come to our office with a new product, right?

All the time. And there are many good products out there. So that's the reason why in our practice, we don't carry a lot because if a patient's already on a good regimen, I'm not going to change them. I'm going to say, do what works.

and the products that we, we're very selective on what we have.

We are very selective, but but when I use a product for my own skin, that's when I bring it on. So that tells you how minimal as far as products. I do think it's important to have good skincare, but when I bring something on for my own skin, that's when I'll start to carry it. So the reason why I like this product is think about all the aspects of photo aging, of, of exposure to sunlight, Kane, like when you think about sun exposed skin, what do you think about, like, what are things that you think on

little brown spots, sun spots, sunburn,

Dr. Minni Saluja 6:49

sure. Sure. Well, that's kind of the immediate effect. But sure, you think about, you know, over time we get loss of collagen elastin, we get wrinkles in our skin, we get pigmentation in our skins certainly. And we do a lot of energy based procedures for that. But why I like this, this cocktail that she has in it is she basically has three powerful antioxidants in it. She's got Pycnogenol, which is a powerful antioxidant, which is derived from, from pine bark. She's got silymarin in it as well, which we know comes from milk thistle. It's a powerful antioxidant, anti inflammatory can even minimize sebum production. And she's got astaxanthin in it, which is comes from microalgae and a lot of studies show that the astaxanthin is 6, 000 times more potent. In fact, some studies even say 50, 000 times more potent than vitamin C. So that tells you how powerful these antioxidants are,

Three very powerful antioxidants, and then it also has niacinamide in it, which we know is important with rosacea patients, with, with the with even acne patients as well. It has anti inflammatory properties in it, and there's also tranexamic acid in it, which helps with discoloration. Tranexamic acid is more potent than hydroquinone without having all the untoward side

me stop you for a minute because I'm, I'm starting to, it's already going a little too deep for me. So basically it's, it's a sunscreen. It's a, it has some powerful antioxidants. And, and what, why is that

Dr. Minni Saluja 8:25

so when we're exposed to environmental stressors sunshine, smoking disease states, even all those things can create oxidative damage in our skin. We get these reactive oxygen species, which which really leads to aging. And so what this does is it helps to minimize these reactive oxygen species and provides the antioxidant component there. It neutralizes the oxidative effect. And so that's what minimizes the aging the accelerated aging that we can, get from the sun and whatnot. You know how patients always say, I've got these smoker lines, which I call them sunshine lines instead of smoker lines, because really too much sun obviously breaks down our collagen elastin.

So, sunscreen, antioxidant, you said something about acne, or?

Dr. Minni Saluja 9:12

I can help minimize the inflammatory aspects of acne and rosacea and eczema, and it also can minimize pigmentation. So it also has the one other ingredient that I didn't mention. Mention is licorice root. So there's six different bioactives and you can, they're classified as antioxidants and pigment decreasers as well. And also minimizing the inflammatory component, the redness of the

it's a molecule plus these bioactives. Yeah. Yep. So it's all these within one. So now what I do when I wake up, and I wash my face, I put this on. And it's my moisturizer as well. And then I wait 10 minutes, and I put my makeup on. And then at night, I still use my retinoic acid. I still use my generic retin a and, and a different moisturizer. I only use this once a day. And I really like it. I, it's, it's become, I'm a no nonsense kind of girl. Don't have a lot of time to do a million different products. Plus I don't want a million different products. And so this is kind of my all in one in the

That's what, that's what I was going to say. It sounds like just kind of a very multi purpose product.

But, but there's also something else about it. So there are, they've shown, now remember sunscreens. are classified as drugs. They're not a cosmetic, right? And so after procedures, after laser based procedures,

is a sunscreen a drug?

so a sunscreen is an over the counter drug because it helps to minimize cancer, right? It helps to minimize damage from the skin. So whenever you have attributes that you're claiming can make a difference in a disease state that's considered a drug and it's classified by the FDA you As a drug, which what I'm getting at here is not the definition of, of, of that. But what I'm getting at is there's stricter regulatory components with drugs versus cosmetics. So for example,

drugs, you have to substantiate safe, safety of a drug, and you have to substantiate efficacy, whereas with cosmetics, you only have to substantiate safety. There's no efficacy component on it. And so the reason why I really like this is I can use it immediately post procedure. And what they found is that helps with wound healing. And it also helps promote the fibroblasts to produce collagen elastin. And this has been studied. They've shown this through efficacy studies with it,

with Pavisse. And so there are other topicals that have been utilized immediately post procedure. We know certain topicals that are derived from stem cells and whatnot. But those are cosmeceuticals. And so there's no there's no regulatory component to show the efficacy of it. There's, there are certainly studies that are done by different companies, but this, I like this because I know it is gonna be a consistent product that has to show the efficacy and, and that's important to me.

Okay, so I'm gonna, I'm gonna just briefly summarize all the things that this product is. So it's a sunscreen. It's an antioxidant. It helps with rosacea, acne What else? Pigmentation. It's also very good for post procedures, for, for healing, and it can also serve as a bit of a moisturizer. The only potential downside is that some people may say it's a little tacky for

Yeah, a little sticky for like five or 10 minutes. I didn't find that, but I know some people have.

The only thing that I think this line needs, this Pavisse line needs is a night type of cream, you know, some type of retinol or retinoic acid. And I think they're developing that. I think that's in

I wouldn't be surprised. Doogie Howser's on it.

Doogie Howser is definitely on it. But one other thing that they have, maybe we'll carry this, I know I tried a sample of it, I really liked it, is a lip gloss. They have it in three different shades and I love how they name it. So they name it based on the wavelength of the color. So there's one that is in the 700 range. There's one in the 600 range. And so that's how they, I don't know the exact numbers to it, but, but that's how they name the colors to it. And that's something that has sun protectant in it as well. So I like that as well. I, but I'm not carrying that as of now. I'm just starting with one product.

And don't be surprised if after your CO2 laser or your nitrogen plasma, your age jet, if I'm putting this on, because I think it's a, It's a good healer, a wound healer as well.
